Burlington’s Innovation Hub TechPlace Plans to Begin Welcoming Members at New Robert Bateman Community Centre Location In November
August 14, 2025
New location deepens community roots and expands impact for local entrepreneurs.
August 13, 2025 | BURLINGTON, ON
TechPlace, Burlington’s innovation hub and home for tech-driven entrepreneurs, will officially relocate to the Robert Bateman Community Centre this fall, marking a new chapter of community-connected innovation for the city. The new location will open its doors on Monday, November 24, 2025, welcoming businesses and the wider community into a purpose-built space for innovation and collaboration.
Since launching in 2017, TechPlace has supported over 600 businesses in generating more than $48 million in revenue and helped bring over 130 new products and services to market. The upcoming move will build on that legacy by integrating TechPlace into one of Burlington’s most dynamic, multi-use community spaces. The Robert Bateman Community Centre will also be home to Brock University, the Burlington Public Library, and the Halton District School Board.
The new 5,635-square-foot location at 5151 New Street will allow TechPlace to scale its programing, deepen strategic partnerships, and make innovation more accessible to residents and partners.
“The next chapter of TechPlace is about growing impact through community connection,” said Anita Cassidy, Executive Director of Burlington Economic Development and Tourism. “We’re taking everything that works, including our members, our model, our mission, and scaling it in a space that makes it even easier for people, ideas, and opportunities to come together. TechPlace has always been a catalyst for entrepreneurship, and now it’s becoming a more visible and accessible part of our community’s future.”
Members will continue to enjoy everything they value about TechPlace, including flexible office options, a connected community, and curated programming, now enhanced by expanded access to programming partners, talent pipelines, and new community-facing opportunities.
“This move is about creating stronger pathways between innovation and community,” said Izabela Goclik, Manager, Innovation & Entrepreneurship at TechPlace. “At Bateman, we’re building on our strengths while opening the door to new opportunities for collaboration with educators, programming partners and the broader community. It’s a space where startups can thrive, and where more people can be part of Burlington’s innovation story.”
